We understand that you’ve chosen The Kidz Shoppe as your partner in consigning and that you deserve the very best we can give you. Here's how consigning with us works:
HOURS OF ACCEPTANCE
We accept used clothing on an appointment only basis from 2pm-6pm Tuesday-Saturday. Non-apparel consignments are accepted without appointments Tuesday-Sunday, but please call us first to verify which items we need and can accept. No consignments are accepted on Mondays. PLEASE NOTE: Our website will always list needed items, updates about our apparel scheduling periods and information about any holiday/seasonal acceptance suspension.
ITEMS ACCEPTED
Children’s apparel: preemie to size 10, footwear: newborn-kid’'s size 2, accessories, toys, games, puzzles, books, play equipment, children’s videos & CDs, playards, car seats, strollers, travel systems, carriers, walkers, exersaucers, bouncers, high chairs, swings, jumpers, small furniture pieces, room décor, linens, bathing gear and potties. All items must be clean and in good working condition.
- Apparel is accepted by appointment only according to season, need and availability of space. We ask that you please bring in no more than 30-35 pieces per visit so that they can be processed in a timely manner. Below are the seasonal accpetance periods. Our website will let you know the specific date we will begin to schedule appointments for each upcoming season:
- Spring: January through March
- Summer: April through July
- Fall: August through September
- Winter: September through December
- Exceptions: the following Seasonal items do not require an appointment, but we ask that you please limit the number you bring in to no more than 10 items per visit:
- Halloween Costumes: August-September
- Winter Outerwear: October-January
- Winter Holiday Wear: October-November
- Spring/Easter Dresses: February-March
- Non-apparel consignments are taken Tuesdays-Sundays without appointments and are processed as time allows on a first-come-first-served basis. We ask that you please call us before bringing items in books, large toys and ALL equipment to verify that we have the space and are accepting the item(s) that you have.
Please do not bring us: cribs, bedding sets/bumpers, diaper pails, maternity/nursing apparel, stuffed animals, underwear, dance/tap/ballet apparel, heely shoes, computer software, used liquid filled teethers, used baby bottles or nipples, used pacifiers, sports apparel, blow up items, garments without their manufacturer's tags, or party favors.
CONDITION
We love to have the very best in our store to please our shoppers. We are looking for items that are clean, current in style, in working order and ready to sell. Please do not bring us any items that are dirty, stained, faded, damaged, hairy, smelly, missing parts, or have been in storage. Apparel must be no older than two years, stylish, wrinkle free and in very good condition (i.e., no holes, stains, buttons missing, worn cuffs, etc.) with the manufacturer's tags intact. All clothing must be clean, pressed and neatly folded in a box (no bags, please.) Shoes accepted for consignment must be in nearly mint condition, in current styles and within our acceptable size range.
Toys must be free from defect, have manufacturer's branding and must conform to all federal safety regulations.
All equipment must be manufactured within the last five years, must be very clean, free from defect in good working condition, structurally sound, and include all parts. Items requiring batteries should have working batteries installed or a battery fee will be charged per item. Whenever possible, please include manuals and/or operating instructions.
CONSIGNING
We will select from your items what we believe our customers will buy. Sometimes there will be items we cannot accept. Please understand that our customers’ preferences, safety regulations & restrictions, and seasonal factors influence our selection criteria. We will input your items into our system then send you a report via email which will detail the items on consignment and their price. We will display your items for a period of 90 days. We may choose to shorten or extend an item’s consignment due to condition, season and demand for the item. Every effort will be made to get your items on the sales floor as quickly as possible, but sometimes there are unforeseen delays due to volume, space, need & demand. Your consignment period will be extended accordingly to account for any delays.
PRICING
We base our prices on supply and demand, the item's condition and what our research shows the market will bear. We will strive to get the best possible selling prices for you. We will establish the price of each item for you or you can let us know your desired price at the time of consignment. You can always let us know if you would like the price of any item adjusted. A $.50 handling charge will be added to all items priced at $10.00 or more and is paid by the buyer at the time of purchase. The selling price may be reduced by 20% after the first 4 weeks, and by 50% at the eight week point as deemed necessary. Additional markdowns depend on the condition, season and demand for the item. We will also hold normal periodic sales and any merchandise in stock is subject to these sales.
PAYMENT
You can choose to be paid in cash or to apply your proceeds as store credit. Consignors are compensated as follows:
- Non-apparel items (gear, furniture, toys, equipment, etc.): you will receive 50% of the sales price if you wish to be paid in cash— or 55% if you wish to have your proceeds applied as store credit
- Apparel and footwear: you will receive 40% of the sales price if you wish to be paid in cash— or 45% if you wish to have your proceeds applied as store credit
CHANGES
We reserve the right, at any time, to update, revise, supplement, and otherwise modify this Agreement and/or to impose new or additional rules, policies, terms, or conditions (collectively referred to herein as "Additional Terms") as are deemed necessary. All Additional Terms are hereby incorporated into this Agreement by this reference.
